The green toad model is created as a cast, i.e., a replica. The material is epoxy resin, which is hand-painted. We are able to create various color mutations of the animal. The models are used for teaching anatomy in elementary, secondary, and higher education institutions. They are also suitable for exhibition purposes. For schools, we place the animal together with a description on a black plate. This guarantees the design consistency of the products, which can be added to series over many years. For exhibitions, we are happy to create terrain according to the customer’s wishes.
We recommend purchasing the green toad model in combination with other species of toads found in the Czech Republic:
Basic information and ecology of the species
The green toad rarely exceeds 8 cm in size. The iris of the eye is yellow to greenish. The coloration of the back is whitish with green to olive spots. The belly is white to yellowish. Males can be distinguished from females by the mating calluses on the thumb of the male’s front leg, their smaller size, and, above all, their very pleasant voice, which resembles that of a bird and sounds like “crrrríííííí.”In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it is found in almost contiguous areas, otherwise it is widespread throughout central, southern, and eastern Europe. In the Czech Republic, it is abundant in some lowland villages. It avoids colder and mountainous areas. It most often occurs at altitudes up to 450 m above sea level. It lives in open agricultural landscapes, gardens, fields, and around lakes and ponds, as well as near human dwellings and all types of artificial water bodies. Of all our amphibians, it tolerates heat and drought the best. In spring, it seeks out smaller, warm reservoirs, but does not shy away from larger puddles, even those without aquatic vegetation. The strings of green toad eggs are shorter than those of the common toad and contain up to 6,000 eggs. The tadpoles, which can reach up to 50 mm, hatch very quickly. It is mainly active at night. During the breeding season, it can also be found during the day. You can read more on the website of our partner organization HERE:
